Copyright, moral rights & intellectual property 

As a screenwriter, copyright, moral rights and intellectual property are important and crucial factors of working, which I manage with care. I research and follow industry guidelines set by organisations such as The Australian Writers’ Guild. As a creative, I also research similar works to that of my own, to determine that I don’t unwittingly plagiarise any content or infringe on another’s intellectual property. Understanding and considering the differences between copying others’ work vs seeking inspiration from it is imperative. As well as considering the intellectual property of others, I must also ensure the protection of my work, by maintaining a chain of dated evidence and the appropriate ‘copyright’ markings.
